Davis wanted to find neutrinos. Neutrinos are tiny particles. They come from the sun. These particles are very hard to catch. Davis led a huge project called the Homestake experiment. This project lasted from the 1960s to the 1980s. He used a large detector to find them. His work proved that neutrinos from the sun exist.

For this discovery, Davis won the Nobel Prize in Physics. He shared this prize in 2002. He was 88 years old when he won.
