Some RC cars use electric power. These cars use batteries. They are often easy to work with. Other models use fuel. These are called nitro cars. They use small engines. They run on a mix of nitromethane, methanol, and oil.

Nitro fuel can be dangerous. It can cause blindness if it gets in your eyes. Large models may use gasoline engines. These are similar to motors used for trimming grass.

There are different types of RC cars. On-road cars stay on smooth, paved paths. Off-road cars use special parts to drive on rough ground. They have strong suspension. Suspension is the set of parts that helps a car handle bumps.

Off-road cars also have many tire choices. Some cars are rally cars. They drive on dirt or gravel. These cars sit between on-road and off-road styles. Modern on-road cars even have parts that you can adjust. This helps them race like real cars.
