Many people believe in a force called qi. It comes from Chinese philosophy. Some call it vital energy or vital force. The word can also mean air, gas, or breath.

In the past, people thought qi was in all living things. They believed it linked everything in the world together. Some thinkers said qi is the stuff that makes the universe. It can form solids or liquids. The lightest part is the breath of life. Some even said the wind is the qi of the Earth.

People use qi to help their health. They try to balance it through qigong. This is a way of doing special exercises. Some people use qi in martial arts too.

The word has a long history. The old writing for qi shows steam rising from rice. This shows how things can change. Today, science does not use the word qi for energy. But many people still find the idea very important. They use it to think about how the body works. It is a big part of many traditions.
