PUBG: Battlegrounds is a very popular video game.

It belongs to a style called battle royale. In this game, up to one hundred players compete to be the last one standing. Players can play all by themselves or in small teams. Some teams have up to four people in them. The goal is to survive while other players try to eliminate you. This type of gameplay is very exciting for many people. It has become so famous that it helped start a whole new genre of games.

Each match starts with a big adventure. Players parachute from a plane onto one of eight different maps. These maps have many different types of land and sizes. When you land, you have no gear at all. You must quickly search buildings and ghost towns for items. You look for weapons, armor, and vehicles to help you stay safe. These items are placed in random spots every single time. This means you never know exactly what you will find. Sometimes, a plane drops a special loot package with red smoke. This can bring players together for a big confrontation.

To keep the action moving, the game uses a shrinking safe zone. A shimmering blue wall moves inward over time. If you stay outside this wall, you will take damage. This forces all the surviving players into a smaller space. Eventually, everyone must face each other in a tight area. Sometimes, parts of the map are also bombed in red zones. This adds even more danger to the match. Most rounds last no more than 30 minutes. After a match, you earn currency to buy new outfits for your character.

Brendan Greene created the game. People often call him PlayerUnknown. He was inspired by a Japanese film called Battle Royale. He wanted to make a game that was not repetitive. He used very large maps so players could not memorize them easily. He also used random item placement to keep things surprising. He worked with a South Korean company called Bluehole. This company later became the PUBG Corporation. Greene moved to South Korea to lead the creative team. He wanted to make sure the game stayed unique.

Since its release in 2017, the game has become a huge success. It has set seven Guinness World Records. It is also a major esport, which means people watch pros compete in tournaments.
