It is also called pre-primary or nursery school. These schools help kids before they start primary school. Most children attend between the ages of 4 and 6. Some children might start as early as age 2. This helps them get ready for bigger school tasks. Preschool can be run by the government or by private groups.

Learning in preschool happens in many different ways. Children learn about their world through play and talking.

Others work on being creative and expressing themselves. This early learning helps their brains grow very fast.

People have been creating these schools for a long time. In 1779, Johann Friedrich Oberlin and Louise Scheppler started a school in Strasbourg. They helped children whose parents were away working. In 1816, Robert Owen opened an infant school in Scotland.

Many famous names helped spread these ideas across the world. Friedrich Fröbel opened a school in 1837. He called it a Kindergarten.
