Some people can carry them. Others move them with a truck and a crane. These toilets do not need pipes in the ground. They do not need a city sewage system.

They are used in many places. You might see them at music festivals or camping trips. They are also used on boats and at building sites.

Many of these are chemical toilets. They have a tank to hold waste. They use chemicals to stop bad smells. Some chemicals hide the smell. Other chemicals use biocides. Biocides are things that stop bacteria from growing. This helps keep the air fresh.

There are other kinds too. Some use a gel to hold liquid in a bag. These are called WAG bags. Other types use a dry way to work. They might use a compost pile to treat waste. Some people use a commode chair. This is a chair with a small pot. It helps people who cannot move well.
