Artedi was close friends with Carl Linnaeus. They had a special deal. They gave each other their books and papers. They promised to finish each other's work. This was if one friend died before the other.

In 1734, Artedi went to England. Later, he went to Amsterdam. He worked for a rich man named Albertus Seba. Seba had a very large museum. Artedi wrote books to describe the fish in the museum.

Sadly, Artedi died in 1735. He fell into a canal and drowned. His friend Linnaeus heard the news. Linnaeus went to Amsterdam to help. He finished Artedi's books. He published them in 1738. These books helped people learn about fish. Today, we remember him for his great work.
