Pandrosion worked with shapes and sizes. She may have found a way to double a cube. A cube is a solid shape like a block. Doubling a cube is a hard puzzle. Her way was an approximate method. This means it gave a close answer. It used a three-dimensional way to find cube roots.

A man named Pappus wrote about her. He studied her work and her students. He thought her work needed more proof. Proof is a way to show a math idea is always true.

Pappus also wrote about another math idea. This idea was for finding a geometric mean. A geometric mean is a special kind of middle number. This method was simpler than the one Pappus used.

Some people once thought Pandrosion was a man. A man named Hultsch thought the old books made a mistake. But new studies show she was likely a woman. She may have even been known by Hypatia. Hypatia was another famous woman in math.
