Pandemic is a cooperative board game. This means players work as a team. They do not play against each other. Instead, they work together to win.

In the game, four diseases are spreading. The team must find cures for all four. If they do not, the diseases might win. The game board shows a map of 48 cities. Players use colorful cubes to show where diseases are.

Each player has a special role. These roles give players unique powers. For example, a Medic can treat diseases quickly. A Scientist needs fewer cards to find a cure. Players must talk and plan to win.

Matt Leacock designed the game in 2004. He wanted a game where friends could cooperate. He based the idea on a real disease outbreak. Since then, many new versions have come out. Some versions, like Pandemic Legacy, change the game as you play. These games add a long story that lasts many sessions.
