The virus spreads very easily between people. It travels through the air in small drops. These drops come out when we breathe, talk, or sneeze. People can also get sick by touching surfaces. The virus can live on plastic for up to three days. It can also live on metal for that long. However, it does not live long on cardboard. Soap helps to stop the virus. Soap breaks apart the outer layer of the germ.

Many animals can also catch this virus. This includes cats, ferrets, and even rabbits. Some people can feel sick right away. Other people may not feel sick at all. Even if they feel fine, they can still spread the germ to others. This can happen a few days before they feel ill.
