Each system has a special job to do. One system is the respiratory system. It helps you breathe. This system uses your lungs and nose. Another group is the skeletal system. It uses bones to support your body. Humans have 11 different organ systems. The nervous system is one of them. It uses the brain to control your body.

Plants have organ systems too. They have two main systems. The root system is usually underground. Roots hold the plant in place. They also soak up water and minerals. The shoot system grows above the ground. It has stems and leaves. Leaves use light to make food. This is called photosynthesis. Some organs help more than one system. For example, the nose helps you breathe. It also helps you smell things. This means it helps two systems at once.
