Sihamoni was forced to return to Cambodia in 1976. His family was placed under house arrest in the Royal Palace. They lived in fear and had very little food. They mostly ate rice and fish twice a week. They had to grow their own food in the palace gardens. In 1979, the family was moved to China for safety.
