In Buddhism, people talk about a special concept called the Nirmāṇakāya. This is also known as the Emanation body. It is the third part of a larger idea called the trikāya. This body is how a Buddha appears in our world of time and space.

A famous example is Siddhartha Gautama. He was the historical Buddha who lived in India 2,500 years ago. Some traditions say this body is a dimension of constant showing or manifestation. It allows a Buddha to be present for living beings.

There are many ways this body might work. Some early texts describe a "mind-made body." This is a body created by the mind. It can help people travel to heavenly realms.

It can also explain miracles. One story says the Buddha could multiply his form. He made countless bodies that filled the entire sky. A realized being can project many forms at once. These forms can appear in many different realms at the same time. They can take an infinite variety of shapes.

Many thinkers have written about these ideas over many years. The philosopher Vasubandhu lived around the 4th or 5th century CE. He wrote a book called the Abhidharmakośakārikā. He said these forms come from psychic powers. These powers come from Buddhist discipline and wisdom.

Another thinker named Asanga wrote in the Bodhisattvabhūmi. He described these forms as a magical illusion. He said they do not have a material basis. The Madhyamaka school believes all reality is like this. They see all reality as a form of magical illusion.

In Tibetan Buddhism, these forms arise from compassionate energy. They appear based on how people see the world.

A scholar named Jigme Lingpa explained different types. One type is the Natural nirmanakaya. This type is in harmony with other Buddha bodies. Another type is the Supreme nirmanakaya. This includes Shakyamuni Buddha. These supreme forms can have many smaller forms. They might appear as gods like Brahma or Indra. They can even appear as animals like a lion.

There are also Diverse nirmanakayas that take many shapes. Some are born in a natural way, like a king. Others are inanimate objects like mountains or bridges.

Some even appear as an artist or a work of art. These forms help all living beings in many ways. Some emanations teach through dreams. In a place called "Incense-All-Amassed," they teach through scent. This shows how these ideas connect to everything in the world. They use every possible way to help others.
