He spent his life making new ways for people to talk to computers. These ways are called programming languages. A programming language is a set of rules for writing code. Wirth designed many of these. He made Euler and Pascal. He also made Modula-2 and Oberon.

In 1984, he won the Turing Award. This is a very high honor in computer science. He won it for his work on these new languages. Wirth also studied how to build software. He wrote a famous paper about a way to design programs. This method is called stepwise refinement. It helps people plan a program step by step.

Wirth also had a famous idea called Wirth's law. He said that software gets slower faster than hardware gets faster. This means computer programs can become heavy and slow. Wirth liked to keep things simple and lean. He wrote many books to teach others about math and code. He died on New Year's Day in 2024. His work changed how we use computers today.
