Guido van Rossum is a Dutch programmer.

He was born in the Netherlands. He studied math and computer science at school. He won a bronze medal in a math contest in 1974.

In 1989, he started a new project. He wanted to make a way for people to talk to computers. He called this way Python. He did not name it after the snake. He named it after a funny TV show. Python is meant to be easy to read. It should look like plain English. This helps people finish tasks quickly.

Guido worked for many big companies. He worked at Google for many years. He also worked at Dropbox. In 2020, he joined Microsoft.
