Pascal is a way to talk to computers. A man named Niklaus Wirth made it. He wanted to help students learn good habits. He also wanted to make big programs work well.

Pascal was made in 1970. It was based on an older language called ALGOL. Wirth wanted a tool that was neat and tidy. Pascal uses strong typing. This means the computer checks data very carefully. You cannot mix different kinds of data by mistake. This helps people avoid errors.

In the 1970s, Pascal became very popular. Many students used it in college classes. It worked on many different computers. Some people used it to make famous tools. For example, Adobe Photoshop was written using Pascal.

Later, a new version called Object Pascal was made. It was used by Apple for their Lisa and Macintosh computers. This version helped lead to a tool called Delphi. People still use versions of Pascal today to write software. It remains an important part of computer history.
