Nature gives us many things to use. These are called natural resources.

We find these things in the world around us. They include sunlight, water, and land. We also use plants and animals.

Some resources are biotic. This means they come from living things. Trees and fish are biotic resources. Fossil fuels like coal are also in this group. They form from dead organic matter over a long time.

Other resources are abiotic. These come from non-living things. Examples include air, gold, and iron.

We can use these to make many products.

We group resources by how they grow back. Renewable resources can be replaced by nature. Solar power and wind are always available.

We can use them many times.

Non-renewable resources are different. They take a very long time to form. If we use them too fast, they run out. This includes many minerals and fossil fuels. We must use them carefully to help people in the future.
