In the 12th century, a woman named Hildegard of Bingen wrote hymns. Later, traveling poets called Minnesinger sang songs about love in German. These singers were often nobles who moved from one court to another. After them came the Meistersinger, who were often skilled craftsmen. Their music followed very strict rules and patterns. These early traditions helped build the foundation for everything that came next.

Classical music grew very strong in Germany through many eras.

A leitmotiv is a special musical theme for a character or an idea. He wrote big stories based on German folklore, like the Ring of the Nibelung.
