Mice are mostly active at night. This is called being nocturnal. They do not see very well in the dark. To help, they use a keen sense of hearing. They also use their sense of smell to find food. In the wild, mice build complex burrows. These are tunnels in the ground. Some mice even have a built-in plan for how to build them.

Mice eat many things. In nature, they mostly eat fruit and grain. In cities, they eat food scraps. Many people think mice love cheese. But most mice actually prefer sweet foods.
