Some clubs focus on one type of bike. Other clubs are for women or for specific groups of people. Many clubs work to help others. Some help at funerals for soldiers. Other groups act as medical couriers to help in emergencies.

Some clubs help people ride safely. In the UK, volunteers teach riders how to drive well. Many clubs join large groups. These large groups act like umbrellas for many smaller clubs.

One of the first clubs was in New York. In 1903, it joined another club. This helped form a big group for riders. The American Motorcyclist Association is the largest group in the USA. In 2015, it had over 200,000 members.

Some riders wear patches on their vests. These patches can show which club they belong to. Some clubs follow a "biker" way of life. Other clubs are just for fun and friendship.
