Milk caps are a fun game played with small discs.

Players use flat, round discs called milk caps. Long ago, these were cardboard caps from milk bottles.

To play, you make a stack of these caps. Then, you hit the stack with a heavy object. This object is called a slammer. Slammers can be made of plastic, rubber, or metal. Some people use a slammer made of metal. However, metal can be very heavy. It might damage the caps or give one player an unfair lead.

When the slammer hits the stack, the caps scatter. You keep any cap that lands face up. You restack the caps that stay face down. The player with the most caps wins. Some players play "for keeps." This means they keep the caps they win.

Many people call this game Pogs. This name comes from a juice brand. The juice was made from passionfruit, orange, and guava. The game became a huge fad in the 1990s. It spread from Hawaii to many other places. Some schools even banned the game. They felt it was a distraction in class.
