Michel Thomas was a man who knew many ways to talk. He could speak seven languages. He was also a brave soldier in a big war. During World War II, he joined the French Resistance. This was a group that fought against the Nazis. He worked as a scout and an interpreter for the U.S. Army. He helped catch many people who had done bad things. He even saved important papers from being destroyed at a paper mill. These papers helped lawyers learn the truth after the war.

Later, he moved to the United States. He started a school to teach languages. He made a special way of teaching called the Michel Thomas method. He believed that no student has trouble learning. He thought only teachers have trouble teaching. His way was to teach in a way that felt stress-free. He wanted students to feel sure of themselves. He taught them to use what they already knew to learn new things. His books and tapes helped many people learn French, Spanish, German, and Italian. He truly loved to share his skills with the world.
