Some people study how science works. This is called metascience. It is like a bird's eye view of science.

Metascientists look at how research is done. They want to make science better and faster. In 1966, a study looked at medical papers. It found many mistakes in how they used math. Later, a man named John Ioannidis wrote a famous paper. He said many medical findings might be wrong. This helped start a big movement.

In the early 2010s, people noticed a big problem. Many studies could not be repeated with the same results. This is called the replication crisis. It is a problem in fields like medicine and psychology.

Many groups are working to fix these issues. They make new rules for how to report data. They also work to improve peer review. Peer review is when other experts check a study. New groups help make sure research is fair. This helps people trust science more.
