Peer review is when experts check each other's work.

This helps make sure the work is high quality. It also helps people trust the results.

In science, experts look at new papers. They do not know the name of the writer. This keeps the review fair. Many top journals reject most papers they get. This shows they have high standards.

Doctors use peer review too. Long ago, a man named Ishāq ibn ʻAlī al-Ruhāwī suggested a way to do this. He said doctors should keep notes on patients. Other doctors would then check those notes. This helped make sure the care was good.

Engineers also use this method. They work in small teams to find and fix mistakes. This is called a technical peer review.

Students use peer review in school. They read a friend's writing. Then they give tips to help them improve. This helps students learn how to write better. It can also help them feel more sure of themselves.
