Inside the fruit are one to six seeds. The seeds are black and shiny. They look like beans. Each seed has a small hook on one end. Unripe fruit is hard to the touch. It can make your mouth feel dry. This is because it has a substance called saponin. Saponin is a part of the fruit that feels bitter.
