Black mambas can grow up to 14 feet long. They are very fast. They can move at 12.5 miles per hour.

Mambas hunt birds, lizards, and small mammals. They are active during the day. Some mambas sleep in a lair. A snake may stay in one lair for years.

Mambas have very strong venom. This venom has neurotoxins. These are parts that attack the body. The venom can cause dizziness or sleepiness. It can even cause paralysis, which means the body cannot move.
