Many countries are part of this region. These include Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It also includes Brunei, East Timor, Singapore, and Papua New Guinea. The weather is tropical. This means it stays warm because it sits on the equator. This area is also very active with volcanoes. Many volcanoes are found in Java and Sumatra. Tectonic shifts also make large mountains. One high peak is Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia. Another is Puncak Jaya in Indonesia.
