Lojong is a way to train the mind. It comes from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. People use short sayings called aphorisms to help them. These sayings act like tools. They help people change bad mental habits. These habits can cause suffering.

Many people believe these sayings help build better attitudes. One saying tells people to be grateful to everyone. Another says to treat hard times as a way to wake up. Some sayings help people see the world in a new way. One idea is to treat everything like a dream.

A teacher named Atiśa helped start this practice. He traveled to Sumatra to study for twelve years. He later moved to Tibet to teach. Another important teacher was Chekawa Yeshe Dorje. He wrote a text with 59 slogans. These slogans are grouped into seven points.

Lojong teaches people to focus on the present moment. It asks people to be honest about their own minds. It also teaches people to be kind to others. Many teachers now share these ideas in the West. They teach that being less selfish helps find peace.
