One of the most famous parts of Limpopo's history is the Mapungubwe Kingdom. This kingdom was a powerful place between the years 800 and 1290.

It was located where the Limpopo and Shashe rivers meet. The leaders of this kingdom lived on top of Mapungubwe Hill. They were wealthy from trading gold and ivory. Archaeologists have found amazing treasures there, like a golden rhinoceros. This kingdom was a very important center for trade in Southern Africa.

Today, Limpopo is a busy place for farming and nature. Many people live in rural areas and work with the land.
