It sits on the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. People call it the Land of Fire and Ice. This is because it has many volcanoes and geysers. Some volcanoes are active, which means they can erupt.

One special place is the Valley of Geysers. This is a large area with many hot springs. It is the second largest group of geysers in the world. One geyser is named Velikan, which means giant. It shoots water 25 meters into the air every six hours.

More than 800 brown bears live in the reserve. These are some of the largest bears on Earth. They often meet at salmon streams to socialize.

Scientists visit the reserve to study nature. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it is a place of great importance to the world. The reserve has over 750 types of plants. It also has a very large lake called Lake Kronotskoye.
