Kepler-442b is a super-Earth. This means it is bigger than Earth. But it is smaller than the ice giants Uranus and Neptune. It is likely a rocky world. The planet orbits a star named Kepler-442. This star is smaller and dimmer than our Sun. It is also much older. The star can live for 30 billion years!

The planet sits in the habitable zone. This is a place where it is not too hot or too cold. Liquid water could stay on the surface there.

NASA found the planet using a space tool. They used the transit method. This is a way to find planets by watching a star. The star dims a little when a planet passes in front of it. Kepler-442b takes about 112 days to orbit its star. It is a very special place to study.
