McEnroe was a very intense person on the court. He often argued with umpires about their calls. He once famously shouted, "You cannot be serious!" This phrase became the title of his book. Because of his temper, some people called him "SuperBrat." Even so, he stayed very active after he stopped playing pro matches. He now plays in senior events on the ATP Champions Tour.
