He was born in Stuttgart in 1616. His father was a court musician. This helped Johann learn music early. He became a master of the organ and the harpsichord. A harpsichord is a keyboard instrument.

Froberger traveled to many places to learn. He went to Rome to study with masters. He also traveled to cities like Paris and London. He met many great musicians on these trips. Some of these friends helped him learn new styles. These styles changed how he wrote his music.

He also wrote suites. A suite is a set of dances. He was very important for this kind of music.

Froberger did not let many people print his music. He only let his close friends and noble patrons see it. Many of his songs were kept in hand-written books. These books had beautiful art and writing. We still study his music today.
