At first, the strip was called Jon. The orange cat became very popular. By 1978, the strip was in many newspapers. In 2008, 300 million people read it every day! He also made a strip called U.S. Acres.

Davis did more than just draw comics. He wrote shows for TV. He also made films using computers. He started a company called Paws, Inc. in 1981. This company helps manage his work. He even taught art at a college.

Davis uses a digital tablet to draw now. Before that, he drew by hand. He once held auctions for his old hand-drawn comics. His art is loved by many. You can even see Garfield in graffiti on walls.
