Many bees make it. Honey bees are the most famous. They make honey to feed their colony. It gives them power to fly. It also feeds the baby bees. This helps them survive the cold winter.

Bees make honey from nectar. Nectar is a sugary liquid from flowers. A bee can visit over one thousand flowers to fill its honey stomach.

This stomach holds liquid for the bee. The bee carries the nectar back to the hive. There, other bees help turn it into honey. They use their wings to move air. This dries out the nectar. The nectar becomes thick honey.

The bees store it in wax cells called a honeycomb. They seal the cells with wax when they are done.

Honey lasts a very long time. It does not spoil easily. This is because it has very little water.
