Holly Holm is a highly skilled professional fighter. She is famous for competing in two different sports. First, she is a world champion in professional boxing. She also competes in mixed martial arts, which people call MMA.

Holm is a very special athlete in the world of combat sports. She is the only person to win major world titles in both boxing and MMA. In boxing, she held many titles and defended them 18 times. She was even named the Ring Magazine female Fighter of the Year in 2005 and 2006.

Her journey to becoming a champion started with simple classes. When she was 16, she took cardio-kickboxing classes. Her instructor, Mike Winkeljohn, saw her talent and began training her. In September 2001, she won an amateur championship in Kansas City, Missouri. She won her first fight by a technical knockout in just 34 seconds. Her second fight ended with a unanimous decision from the judges.

Holm was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the youngest of three children. Her father, Roger, is a preacher with Swedish and Native American roots. Because of this, fans gave her the nickname "The Preacher's Daughter." Her mother, Tammy, is a massage therapist. As a young girl, Holm stayed very active. She participated in soccer, gymnastics, swimming, and diving.

One of her biggest moments happened in Melbourne, Australia. On November 15, 2015, she fought at an event called UFC 193. She faced the champion, Ronda Rousey, for the bantamweight title. Many people thought Rousey would win, so Holm was an underdog. However, Holm used her striking skills to control the fight. She won by knockout in the second round.

This win was one of the biggest upsets in sports history.

Holm has left a lasting mark on her sports. Fight Matrix ranks her as the 17th greatest female fighter ever. BoxRec ranks her as the 5th greatest female professional boxer of all time. She has faced many different champions throughout her long career. Even when she faced hard losses, she continued to compete at a high level. Her hometown of Albuquerque even named November "Holly Holm Month" to celebrate her.
