Most headaches are called primary headaches. These are not caused by a disease. They are often not dangerous. Migraines are a type of primary headache. They can cause pulsing pain. How does it happen? The brain itself does not feel pain. It has no pain receptors. But other parts do. These include your muscles and blood vessels. When these parts are irritated, they send a message. They use a nociceptor, which is a special nerve cell. This cell tells your brain that you are in pain.
