Haram is an Arabic word with two main meanings. One meaning is about things that are forbidden. These are acts that are not allowed in Islam. Another meaning is about things that are sacred. This can mean a place is very holy.

In Islam, haram acts are seen as harmful. They can hurt a person or other people. For example, murder and theft are haram. Some things are haram because of how they are made. Using money earned by cheating is also haram. Even if a person has good reasons, they cannot do these things.

There are many rules about daily life. Some foods are haram, such as pork or alcohol. Animals must be treated well before they are eaten. If an animal is treated poorly, its meat is haram.

Rules also cover how people act in business. Being dishonest or using bribery is not allowed. In clothing, men are not allowed to wear silk or gold. These rules help people avoid being greedy. Following these ways helps people live with respect for God and others.
