Han Fei was a famous thinker from ancient China. He was born into a ruling family in the state of Han. He lived during a time called the Warring States period. Han Fei was very smart, but he had a stutter. This made it hard for him to speak in court. Because of this, he became a great writer instead.

His ideas are part of a system called Legalism. He believed that people act based on their own interests. To keep order, he said leaders should use two handles. These handles are rewards and punishments. He also believed in using strict laws and strong control.

Many people studied his work. A famous book called the Han Feizi contains his ideas. Some say he was a rival to a man named Li Si. Li Si was a leader in the Qin state. The story says Li Si caused Han Fei to die by poison. The King of Qin felt regret after Han Fei died. Even after his death, his ideas helped many later leaders. His work changed how people thought about rules and power.
