The Han Feizi is an old book from China.

It is a collection of 55 essays. These essays are part of a way of thinking called Legalism. Many people believe Han Fei wrote these parts. He was a philosopher from the Warring States period.

The book explains how to run a state. It talks about power and how to use it. Han Fei believed that people are often driven by what they want. They may seek wealth or fame. Because of this, he said leaders should not just trust people. Instead, they should use a set of rules called fa.

Leaders use two main tools to keep order. These are rewards and punishments. Han Fei called them the "two handles." By using these, a ruler can manage many people. The book also covers war, money, and how to talk to other lands.

It contains many stories from ancient China. These stories help us learn about the past. Many rulers and thinkers studied this book. Even the famous first emperor of the Qin dynasty was linked to these ideas.
