Their names were Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus. They were from a very famous family. Tiberius became a leader in 133 BC. He wanted to help poor farmers.

He made a plan to check the public land. He wanted to limit how much land rich people could hold. Then, he would give the rest to poor people. This was to help the number of farmers in Italy.

Ten years later, Gaius became a leader too. He tried to help his brother's plans. He also had many other big ideas. He wanted to start new Roman towns outside of Italy. He also wanted to change how courts worked. Many powerful leaders did not like these changes. They fought against the brothers. Both Tiberius and Gaius were killed during this time. This was a very sad part of Roman history. Their deaths showed that people might use violence to win in politics. This set a dangerous path for Rome in the years to come.
