Visby is the main town and capital. About 23,600 people live there. The rest of the people live in small towns or on farms. Gotland has many ways to make money. People work in farming and food making. Others work in design or tech services. Some work in heavy industry. They make concrete from local limestone.

History is very important here. People have lived on the island for a long time. A huge treasure of silver was once found in a field. It had about 14,000 coins from many lands.
