Life was not always easy for his family. When Temüjin was only eight years old, his father died. After that, his family was left with almost nothing. They were even abandoned by their own tribe.

Temüjin grew up and became a very strong leader.

He used his personality to make new friends and alliances. He worked with leaders named Jamukha and Toghrul. They even helped him find his wife, Börte, after she was kidnapped. Later, things changed between him and his old friend Jamukha. They fought in a war, and Temüjin eventually became the sole ruler of the Mongolian steppe. In 1206, he was given the title Genghis Khan.

He also led many military campaigns to grow his land. He led raids into the Western Xia in 1209. Later, he fought the Jin dynasty for four years. By 1215, his army had captured the capital city called Zhongdu.
