Bacon is known as a father of empiricism. This means he believed we gain knowledge by watching nature. He argued for a way of thinking called inductive reasoning. This involves looking at many different events to find a pattern. He also said scientists should use a skeptical approach. This means they should question things so they do not trick themselves.
