Forehead

life science Maturity 11-13 Next article →

The forehead is the area on your head above your eyes. It has three clear edges. The top edge is your hairline. The bottom edge is a bone above your eyes. This bone is the supraorbital ridge. The sides are marked by the temporal ridge.

Muscles sit under your skin. These muscles help you show feelings. The occipitofrontalis muscle can raise your eyebrows. This makes you look surprised. The corrugator supercilii muscle pulls eyebrows down. This helps you make a frown.

Moving these muscles makes wrinkles. Some lines go across your forehead. Other lines go up and down. The procerus muscle can even make your nose wrinkle.

You might feel a strange tingle on your forehead. This is a tactile hallucination. It is a feeling of pressure or tingling. It can happen when an object moves near your skin. You do not even have to touch it. A pointed pencil can cause this feeling.
