In many tales, fairies can be tricky. They might lead travelers the wrong way. To stay safe, people used special charms. They might wear clothes inside out. They might use a four-leaf clover or church bells. Before modern medicine, people sometimes blamed fairies for being sick. Fairies are still very popular in books and art today.
