Many people in Abrahamic religions believe she was the first woman ever created. Her name is Ḥawwāh in Hebrew, which most people believe means "living one" or "source of life."

Some scholars have looked at how her name sounds in other languages. For example, they noted it sounds like an Aramaic word for "snake." Others have compared her name to the Hurrian goddess Ḫepat. This goddess was worshipped in Jerusalem during the Late Bronze Age. These connections show how people have thought about her for a long time.

The story of how Eve was made is very well known.

The Book of Genesis says that God took a rib from Adam to create her. This was done so she could be a companion for him. Some people believe this is why men have one less rib than women. However, the Hebrew word for "rib" can also mean "side" or "chamber." Because of this, some thinkers suggest the story means women are equal to men. They see her as a counterpart who stands alongside him. This idea helps people understand the relationship between men and women.

Eve lived in a place called the Garden of Eden.

In the story, a serpent speaks to her about a special tree. This tree is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent tells her that eating the fruit will bring benefits. Eve decides to eat the fruit and then shares it with Adam. Because they ate the fruit, they were expelled from the garden. This event is often called the "fall of man" in Christian churches. It is a very important part of many religious traditions.

After leaving the garden, Eve and Adam had children.

They had two sons named Cain and Abel. Cain was a tiller of the ground, while Abel was a keeper of sheep. Later, Eve gave birth to a third son named Seth. The Bible says Seth was born when Adam was 130 years old. Many people believe that modern humanity is descended from Seth. These family stories help explain how people believe the world began. They connect the first humans to everyone living today.

People have used Eve's story in many different ways.

Artists have painted her for hundreds of years. One famous collection of biographies of women was written by Giovanni Boccaccio in 1361. There are also other stories that are not in the Bible. For instance, some Jewish writings mention a woman named Lilith. These different ideas show how many ways people interpret her life. Whether through art or faith, Eve remains a very important figure in history.
