To support a large gut for digesting plants, the ilium, or hip bone, splayed out widely. The front blade of the ilium reached the widest point of the belly. The heavy musculature required for movement is visible in the robust humerus. This upper arm bone featured an enormous deltopectoral crest. This bony ridge was warped to the front, forming a thick knob or lip.

Feeding was a specialized process involving a unique skull structure. The skull resembled a truncated equilateral triangle when viewed from above.
