Some people have a special way to look at old myths. This idea is called euhemerism. It suggests that myths come from real events. They might even come from real people.

This idea says that stories change over time. As people retell a story, they might add big details. A great king might start to look like a god. This name comes from a man named Euhemerus. He lived in Greece a long time ago. He believed many Greek gods were once mortal men. For example, he thought Zeus was a king who died on Crete. He even said people could find Zeus's tomb there.

Many thinkers used this idea to explain old tales. Early Christians used it too. They wanted to show that old gods were just humans. In the Middle Ages, writers used it to explain Norse myths. A man named Snorri Sturluson said the god Odin was a real leader from Asia. He said Odin moved north to rule new lands. People still use different ways to study these old stories today.
