Some stories say the eagle was Zeus himself. Zeus brought him to Mount Olympus to live. Ganymede became a cup bearer for the gods. This means he served them drinks. Zeus also gave him eternal life. He would never grow old or die.

To thank his father, Tros, Zeus gave him fine horses. These horses were very fast. They could even run over water. Some people say Zeus put Ganymede in the sky. He became the stars we call Aquarius. This is the water-carrier constellation. A large moon of Jupiter also has his name.
